April 20, 2006 @ 7:30 pm John's Hopkins Intensive Care Unit

Gavin was very tired and his lungs could no longer fill with the precious air he needed to continue to live. At 7:15 pm he was disconnected from the lung machine and placed in his mothers arms. Gavin took tiny shallow breaths while craddled in the arms of his devoted mother.  She gently rubbed his head and whispered in his ear how much she loves him. Gavin's Dada sat beside them and held Kyle in his lap. They cried tears from deep inside. A place of unbelievable pain and grief. Countless numbers of Doctors and Nurses, who had known and loved Gavin, came to say goodby and tell him how much they loved him. As Gavin's family and friends looked on he took his last breath at 7:40pm. He just let out a tiny breath, relaxed and he was gone. He was no longer in pain. He did not need the infected lungs to breath or the lines in his chest to get medicine or a body cast on his dislocated hip or an operation on his bottom eyelids or hearing aids or feeding tubes. He had wings now..and could be free from all the pain he had sufferered for more than half of his life. We cry because we miss our little "goosey wonder" and do not understand why he had to leave. We pray for the knowledge to try and understand why this happen. We hold onto the memories and love that Gavin gave us and search for the lessons he was sent into our lives to teach us.

Gavin's viewing will be at Hardesty Funeral Home on Monday, April 24, 2006  851 Annapolis Road, Gambrills, MD 21054
